MISSION:

Film Biz Recycling (FBR) is a not-for-profit organization, creating socially responsible and sustainable solutions from media industry waste.

PROCESS:

Fostering relationships with NYC decision-makers in film, tv, theater, commercial, and other media production occupations to ensure excess materials are donated to Film Biz Recycling who will re-purpose or place for an extended life.

Operating a social enterprise PROP SHOP business that provides the entertainment industry with an accessible, production-friendly space to receive material donations.

Evaluating donated materials and recipients for optimum sustainability (social need and environmental impact).

Developing redistribution networks which include:
• Local Charity Donation
• Self-sustaining Creative Reuse Center
• Community-Building Initiatives
• Media Production Industry

Creating environmentally focused educational platforms.

Assembling metrics to establish standards in waste reduction and responsible media production.

SERVICES:

Sustainable Enterprise
• Film Biz Recycling operates FILM BIZ PROP SHOP, which sustains our not-for profit activities and services, creates awareness for our cause, as well as expands job employment in the “green biz” sector. The PROP SHOP is located in a 10,000-foot warehouse in Gowanus, Brooklyn.

Education
• FBR develops, coordinates and hosts seminars in our warehouse space focusing on reuse and the media production, construction and creative arts industries.
• FBR independently, and in partnership with other organizations, offers sustainable production manager classes.
• FBR hosts REWORKSHOP where artists teach skills to community residents and members of the FBR community.
• FBR provides internship opportunities to students in the media production, product design and fine arts.

Consultation (short list)
• FBR will consult on individual media production projects to inventory, repurpose, and place their unused and expendable materials used during production.

Green Storage Cleanouts
• FBR provides crew, cleanout and placement services for media productions.

Community/Public Meeting Space
• FBR provides meeting and studio spaces to local community groups, businesses and individuals.

Biz to Biz Program
• FBR provides office materials and furniture to local small businesses free of charge.

Art Incubator
• Re-Galery is our internal studio and exhibition space featuring the work of upcoming artists who whose work revolves around reuse.

Job Creation
• Through the growth of our services, FBR continues to expand job creation in the sustainable business sector.
