
CAMBA operates a homeless shelter for 70 MICA (mentally ill chemical abusing) women at the Park Slope Armory in Brooklyn. This supportive, structured and theraputic facility provides temporary housing, nutricious meals and comprehensive services and assistance to enable mentally-ill and often substance-abusing women to stabalize their condition and move toward permanant and/or supported housing.

The purpose of this endeavor is to aid unfortunate animals in the interest of a higher quality of life. We take in rescued, confiscated, neglected, injured, ill, unmanageable, or otherwise unwanted animals from private owners, zoos, shelters, and other public organizations. These animals are cared for, and/or rehabilitated to the best of our ability and means until which time they can be found healthy, happy homes – whether it be through adoption to qualified candidates or legally released into habitats suitable to the specific species in conjunction with licensed wildlife rehabilitators.

The 12 month residency program helps mothers become self-sufficient through meetings with staff focusing on training in maternal/ child health, career development, ongoing life skill sand the acquisition of permanent housing . Chips also operates a Soup Kitchen providing hot, nutritious meals in a safe, secure environment.

Blissful Bedrooms is a 501c3, charitable, not-for-profit organization, which is composed entirely of volunteers and is dependent on the compassion and generosity of individuals and businesses to support its mission: to transform the personal spaces of young individuals who have limited resources, and have various severe, physical disabilities that make them wheelchair-dependent and highly reliant on others for activities of daily living. Because of their lack of mobility/independence and decreased opportunities in society, these young individuals with physical challenges spend a great amount of time in their bedrooms.

ROOM TO GROW

The mission of Room to Grow is to enrich the lives of babies born into poverty throughout their critical first three years of development. Parents expecting a baby are referred to Room to Grow by selected prenatal programs assisting low-income families. Upon their referral, parents visit Room to Grow’s warm and inviting space once every three months from just before the birth of the baby until their child turns three. During their one-on-one appointments with our staff social workers, typically lasting two hours, parents receive developmental information, customized support, and all of the needed baby items to ensure a healthy and secure start for their child.
